A good turnout, with an excellent 23 Stars and Superstars in attendance!

The Trust Fund race had a hectic start, with 121 Kevin Shinn spinning on the
pit bend, causing a small pile up on turn 2. 502 Richard Wilson also half
spun, causing a chicane, as 321 Ed Neachell took up the running. 97 Murray
Harrison then spun on the town bend, causing a further pile up with 53 John
Lund and 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr amongst those getting caught up. The race
then settled down, with 321 Neachell maintaining his lead, as 462 Scott
Davids gave chase, having to fend off 84 Tom Harris during the second half
of the race. 321 Neachell went on for the win, while 84 Harris dished out a
last bend hit to send 462 Davids wide to claim second. It was great to see
242 David Nickolls (who was badly injured at Coventry's November '09
session) presenting the trophies after the race.

Heat 1 for the white and yellow grades saw 416 Dave Muckian set the early
pace, as 73 Rob Cowley put in the bumper hard on 362 Lionel Shaw, sending
him into the fence. 215 Geoff Nickolls shoved past 235 John Weldon to move
into second, Weldon then taking another dose of bumperwork from 306 Ian
Noden. 330 Graham Wagstaff half spun on turn 3, with 41 Robert Broome
collecting him to burst a tyre, before Wagstaff T-boned Broome and sent him
over onto his roof. The race was halted with Broome emerging unscathed. 215
Nickolls soon dived up 416 Muckian's inside on the restart for the lead on
the pit bend, with 306 Noden soon moving into second. 73 Cowley shoved his
way up the order, as 158 James Clement bumpered 416 Muckian hard into turn
3, Muckian collecting 306 Noden, both Noden and Muckian ending in the fence.
192 Luke Dennis and 60 Ian Venables tangled on the back straight, as 215
Nickolls took the win. 73 Cowley dished out a last bend hit to 98 Les
Spencer in the battle for third.

306 Noden soon led the second heat, after the three white tops in the race
had tangled on the first turn. 2 Paul Harrison spun on turn 4, as 338 Chris
Brocksopp tangled with 111 Michael Williamson, the pair ending on the
infield. 353 Nigel Friswell collected the fence, as 11 Neil Scriven buried
212 Danny Wainman into 291 Dan Squire. 446 Joe Booth and 97 Murray Harrison
moved into second and third, with 1 Andy Smith coming through into fourth.
97 Harrison overhauled Booth for second, before 484 Craig Utley spun into
front of Noden, sending him wide round turn 4. 97 Harrison dived up the
inside for the lead, with 1 Smith moving into second to give chase. Into the
last bend, Smith lunged at Harrison and made contact, but Harrison held on
and just beat Smith to the line in a very close finish.

235 Weldon headed heat 3 before being passed by 335 Mark Woodhull. Weldon
was repeatedly shoved wide by the following traffic to drop down the places,
but kept coming back for more. 380 Steven Cayzer, 462 Scott Davids and 197
Ryan Harrison traded hits, as 121 Kevin Shinn and 463 James Morris collected
the fence on turn 4. 351 John Frost went fencebound on turn 1, as 197
Harrison briefly rode the back straight armco. 335 Woodhull stayed ahead for
the win, while 197 Harrison gave 380 Cayzer a last bend hit only to spin
himself round.

235 Weldon led the opening laps of the consolation, as 111 Williamson spun
on turn 3 and 467 Timmy Farrell likewise on turn 1. 235 Weldon went a little
wayward exiting turn 4 to go onto the infield, allowing 105 Chris Bonner to
pass. Weldon continued in second, but then spun on turn 4 causing a
stoppage. The restart was headed by 197 Harrison, having passed Bonner just
before the caution. 84 Tom Harris soon overhauled 197 Harrison when the race
was restarted, with Harrison then tracking him round. Into the last bend 197
Harrison went for a lunge but missed and drifted wide, 84 Harris taking the
win, while 212 Wainman nearly caught 197 Harrison in the dash to the line
for second, the pair of them tangling as they crossed the line.

The Allan Barker Memorial Final was led away by 98 Spencer, as 55 Craig
Finnikin spun on turn 3. 244 Mick Rogers spun on the exit of turn 4, where
he was collected by 12 Michael Scriven. 191 Joshua Smith collected the home
straight fence, as 73 Cowley tangled with 446 Booth to end in the fence on
turn 1. The race was halted to remove 244 Rogers from the racing line, with
98 Spencer heading the restart from 215 Nickolls and 338 Brocksopp. The rain
which had threatened then came, and it really bucketed down for just a few
minutes. The racing went slow motion, with 338 Brocksopp overhauling 98
Spencer. 1 Smith moved up the order and looked to be in with a good chance
of taking the lead, only to pick up a flat rear, and he dropped back down
the order. 21 Mark Gilbank then stuffed 2 Harrison into the now stationary 1
Smith on turn 2, as 55 Finnikin gave some big hits to 515 Wainman. 16 Matt
Newson came through to take up the running in his new shale tubular car, as
speeds increased in the later laps, with the rain now just about stopped. 16
Newson went on to take the win, as 515 Wainman shoved 55 Finnikin wide in a
last bend melee for fourth. The Steve Froggatt Memorial Trophy went to 215
Nickolls as the night's top scoring low grader after the Final.

192 Dennis headed the Ritchie Ahern Memorial Grand National, before 215
Nickolls briefly took over, 380 Cayzer then coming to the fore. 515 Wainman
shoved 1 Smith wide, and then moved up the order, as 335 Woodhull overhauled
380 Cayzer for the lead. A big shunt into turn 3 nearly sent 462 Davids into
the fence, before 4 Dan Johnson sent 212 Wainman into the armco, also on
turn 3. 515 Wainman bumpered 215 Nickolls wide to move into third, before
reeling in the battling 380 Cazyer and 335 Woodhull. With a couple of laps
to run, Wainman put in the bumper on Woodhull to go ahead and went on to
take the chequered.

unchanged, before the last bend where 197 North put in the bumper, sending
60 Sandy wide, North taking the win, with 330 Steve Cuthbert stealing
second, Sandy recovering for third.

917 Nigel Wiles led the first heat, as 291 Craig Tomblin ran into the marker
tyres. 401 Barry Goldin managed to negotiate the back straight chaos, having
T-boned 70 Brian Shadbolt on turn 1. 917 Wiles spun himself out, but he
managed to get going again still in the lead, although placemen 549 Andrew
Bottomley and 259 Simon Farrington were now on his tail. 956 Len Perkins and
125 Craig Kendall tangled on turn 1, 917 Wiles running into them, allowing
259 Farrington into the lead. The race was then halted with 125 Kendall
stuck on the racing line, with 259 Farrington heading the restart. 158
William Clement and 925 Paul Wilson got into a tangle on the pit bend, with
136 Kyle Taylor running into Wilson hard before collecting the fence. 259
Farrington got past, but 662 Steve Wycherley, 401 Goldin and 379 Stuart
Cayzer, who were running in second to fourth places, crashed in amongst
others, causing another caution period. The restart saw 345 Gary Taylor
collect 198 Paul Nicholson coming out of turn 4, Taylor clambering over
Nicholson's bonnet to roll over and land back on his wheels. Taylor kept
going, but the race was halted again for on track debris. 259 Farrington
still led for the next restart, and held off 702 Allen Cooper over the
remaining distance for the win, while 345 Taylor continued, despite having a
very bent aerofoil, before his bonnet also flipped up to restrict his
vision!

White grader 860 Andy Brewin led the second heat away, before being passed
by 712 Darren Pearson. 495 John Cayzer moved into second, before tangling
with 712 Pearson on the pit bend, allowing 860 Brewin back into the lead.
622 Darren Bingley came through the field quickly, and caught 860 Brewin,
before shoving him aside to take over. However, Brewin came back and
launched at Bingley into the town bend, retaking the lead. 606 Andrew Palmer
and 186 George Turiccki then caught the front two, as 622 Bingley again
overhauled Brewin. However, Brewin was very determined not to lose his lead,
and once again put in the bumper on the pit bend to go back ahead, the three
chasing red tops now losing a little ground on him. This gap was then
reduced, before Bingley and Turiccki tangled with Brewin, allowing Palmer to
take the lead. Brewin and Turiccki got going again to battle for second, as
Palmer looked to have the race sewn up. However, on the last bend he tangled
with a spinning white grader to lose time and 186 Turiccki took the flag
just ahead of 860 Brewin, the latter having put in a superb drive.

The consolation saw 650 Gary Stirk and 922 Graham Legge fighting for the
lead, as a hectic start led to spins at both ends of the track. 650 Stirk
then collected 292 Craig Taylor on the back straight to go out, with Taylor
spinning into the fence. 595 Jamie Young then spun on turn 3, where he was
collected head-on by the traffic, causing a stoppage. 922 Legge headed the
restart, as 401 Goldin moved into second. However, Goldin was overhauled by
70 Brian Shadbolt and 445 Nigel Green. 588 Matt Pettitt then went in hard on
445 Green to spin him on the pit bend, as 401 Goldin moved back into second
place. The backmarking 956 Perkins hassled 922 Legge, but he continued to
lead, as 70 Shadbolt shoved Goldin wide to retake second. 549 Bottomley
smacked the home straight fence before running hard into the turn 2 armco,
as 922 Legge went on to take the win.

The Final had a chaotic start with a clash between the pack on the pit bend,
with 445 Green losing his front bumper before pulling a huge wheelie as he
rode over it. The race was halted, with 860 Brewin heading the restart. 259
Farrington challenged Brewin for the lead, and a good battle started with
the pair changing places, before the race was halted again for 630 Justin
Parker who had taken a knock on the back straight. 860 Brewin headed the
restart, but was soon passed once again by 259 Farrington, Brewin then half
spinning. 433 Stephen Lilley hooked up with 662 Steve Wycherley, as 922
Legge spun 448 John Wright to go into the fence. 606 Palmer started reeling
in Farrington, but the latter then opened up the gap again, and he went on
for a heat and Final double. 38 David Polley and 702 Allen Cooper had a
close battle for fourth.

922 Legge led the National before 492 Cayzer went by. 145 Graham Mole
clashed with 488 Liam Bentham and rode over his wheel, as 495 Cayzer
collected the spinning 589 Colin Eardley to put Legge back into the lead.
125 Kendall and 728 Carl Pilkington then had a coming together on turn 2 to
go wide, forcing 922 Legge onto the outside line and allowing 925 Wilson to
take the lead. 495 Cayzer and 606 Palmer moved into second and third, before
925 Wilson ran into 62 Trevor Buckley, 606 Palmer then taking over for the
win.
