StoxKarts

Stoxkart racing maybe small on size but big on thrills and this year is all change for this formula as it is under new management. The cars themselves are based on a 390cc Honda 4 stroke engine with a centrifugal clutch, Stoxkarts will reach speeds of 50mph. A lap of a track such as Coventry would be completed in less than 20 seconds which is only 4 seconds slower than a BriSCA F1 Stockcar. At first glance a Stoxkart may seem small - they are after all the smallest of all the ‘contact’ formulas - but what they lack in size they more than make up for in every other department and it really is down to racing talent rather than the drivers bank balance. No modifications are allowed in this formula eliminating any possible cheats and therefore leaving it down to the driver to do all the hard work. Competitors cannot buy success as all cars are built to the same exacting standards, fitted with identical engines and ballasted to the same minimum weight with the driver. Everything then comes down to the ability of the driver. To be able to race a Stoxkart, competitors must be aged between 12 & 16 (Junior League) and 16 & 60 (Senior League) and hold either a current driving licence or be able to prove that they have sufficient driving ability to be able to participate in a motor racing event. Stoxkarts have a number of options whereby potential race drivers can try before they buy, and all at a price that won’t break the bank.

For 2010 ex-BriSCA FI racers Ian and Paul Higgins have taken the reigns of this formula and already car numbers have increased dramatically.

Stoxkarts are joining Coventry for pre-race entertainment several times this year and we hope all drivers enjoy taking to the Brandon shale.

Stoxkarts are appearing at Coventry Stadium on:

Saturday 3rd July

Saturday 18th September

Saturday 16th October
