BriSCA FII

BriSCA FII is Europe’s largest short oval formula with over 600 drivers based in the UK, Northern Ireland and Mainland Europe and have a packed fixture list during the season with over 200 events to choose from. Coventry will be welcoming the FII’s five times during 2010 and we are looking forward to seeing this open wheeled formula battle it out with huge field of cars throughout the season.

The FII’s are classed as the smaller brother to the FI’s but the racing is very similar with tactics and skill needed to win within this brigade. These cars are also purpose built, single seater racing cars. Built for battle with the front and rear bumpers used to maximum effect as drivers are encouraged to push and nudge their opponents out of the way to a grab that chequered flag.

This formula was formed in 1960 giving racers an alternative to the more expensive FI version. Since the 60’s the cars have transformed from being based on saloon type cars to becoming purpose built steel frames with roll bars and nerf rails. A smaller engine is used in the form of a 2L pinto and over the next few seasons a Duratech alternative is being introduced. Cars can be built by the driver or purchased ready to race from several FII builders across the country.

Shale racing is increasingly popular in the FII’s and Coventry is looking forward to seeing the big names appear over the course of 2010 as well as hopefully many up and coming shale superstars ready to make their name in the sport.

FII’s will be appearing at Brandon on :-

Saturday 3rd April – World of Shale 2

Friday 23rd April – World Qualifying Round

Saturday 5th June – World of Shale 7

Saturday 7th August – Veterans Day

Friday 3rd September – Whites & Yellows
