Pit Gate opens 12p.m.
Advance ticket entrance opens 2.30p.m.
Turnstiles open 3p.m.
Heritage Parade 4.45p.m.
First Race 5.30p.m.
Just over a week to go now until the BriSCA FI Championship of the World and after a surge in ticket sales over the weekend we are delighted to say that well over 3,000 tickets have been bought in advance. All these organised people have the chance of entering the stadium thirty minutes before the gates officially open to the public to pick their spot for the evening’s entertainment.
They will also have the opportunity to be the first to look around the Heritage Exhibition which is celebrating fifty years of World Finals at Coventry Stadium. We have nearly forty vintage machines booked to appear along with a classic Heritage transporter taking you back in time to the 50’s. All these cars will be displayed in the kennel concrete area behind the main grandstand (turn four) where there will be a food and drink point so that you can grab a bit to eat and then go onto step back in time and visit the static display.
The ‘earliest’ raced machines we have are from 1955 and both belong to Duncan Bell, whilst the display will also feature two Aubrey Leighton race cars along with Roy Clark’s 1949 Ford Pilot which appeared back in 1959. Mike Shirley will be appearing behind the wheel of the 1965 World Final winning car of 3 Ellis Ford later on during the evening whilst Rob Squire will be taking to the track in another World Final winning machine – 100 Tony Neal 1968 champion. Dick Gladden will be appearing in a 1937 Chrysler Coupe raced in the fifties whilst Graham Bunter will be enjoying the action from the seat of the Nev Hughes 1935 For Model 48.
There are many more booked to appear and race from this era and they are also joined by fellow pieces of history from the 70’s and 80’s, many of which took the all important World title in their hay day. Rob Bradsell, Iain Stirk, New Holcroft and Peter Falding are to name but a few that will be on track during the night in the 70’s and 80’s heat fighting it out for a win on the Brandon Shale. With the exception of two cars, all of this display will be out on the oval throughout the night and look forward to the support from the capacity crowd.
Before they take to the tracks for a race, there will be a parade from 4.45p.m. compared by Mr Keith Barber who will step back in time and give the crowd his in depth knowledge of all these machines one by one. If you enjoy reminiscing this really is going to be worth a visit in the afternoon and then sit back and enjoy seeing these cars back out where they belong.
Why not soak up the atmosphere from the restaurant and sit in comfort all night whilst enjoying a three course meal as well. We have a few seats remaining in the restaurant and the price is £55 per person which includes entry to the event and you have your seat for the evening in the warm with a perfect view of the track.
You can choose from the following menu:
Homemade Tomato Soup served with a rustic roll and butter
or
Ardenne Course Pate served with toasted onion bread and plum chutney
or
Fan of Melon served with mixed berries and raspberry puree
xXx
15oz Lamb Shank slowly cooked in a red wine jus
Served with goose fat roast potatoes, selection of roasted vegetables and peas
or
8oz Braised steak in a shallot gravy
Served with goose fat roast potatoes, selection of roasted vegetables and peas
or
7oz Poached Fillet of Salmon
Served with a lemon and butter sauce, new potatoes and peas
or
Ratatouille served with rosti potato cake and a selection of vegetables
xXx
Individual Fruits of the Forest Pie and custard
or
Individual Honey and Pecan Ice Cream
If that gets the taste buds tingling simply phone the office on 02476 542 395 and book your tickets. Don’t forget if you have your tickets in hand you can enter the stadium from 2.30p.m.
Only a few days left to snap up a bargain with regard to World Final ticket sales. The chance to purchase a cheap rate advance ticket will end at midnight this Saturday (21st August) Tickets have been flying out of the office and already as we speak over 2,800 have been bought in advance, breaking all previous Coventry records. We are thrilled to have such a response from both drivers and fans and we are also looking forward to the highest Dutch contingency ever at a World Final event taking the number of FI’s over the 100 car barrier.
With such interest from the orange crowd we are delighted to announce that the Friday meeting will host full blown FI racing with four events for the Dutch and fellow overseas entrants to acquire the track time and ultimate car set up ready to challenge the UK racers – is this the year the major trophy will go overseas?
After a very successful Venray trip by the Coventrystox team we are delighted to confirm the FI visitors listed below, with the vast majority intending on racing both Friday and Saturday night which includes the 2010 World Cup Champion H247 Gary Castell.
We have also had an amazing response from Dutch FII racers and we are looking forward to many NL racers joining us on the Friday evening to challenge the UK shale racers at the 2010 FII Brandon finale including the newly crowned World Cup Champion Toon Schut.
The Friday night spectacular is really taking shape now with such interest and the FII brigade are fighting it out for the Whites and Yellows Championship too so this really is a quality event at domestic prices (£12 Adults, £5 Children – 11-15, Under 11’s FREE) Why not start the party early and make it a double Coventry whammy.
On Friday camping will be available at 12p.m. and the pit gate will open at 3p.m. Turnstiles will open at 5.30p.m. and the racing will kick off bang on 7.30p.m. with the W&Y Championship race for the FII’s.
After a heavy party on the Friday night the stadium will re-open between 8a.m. and 11a.m. for breakfast and showers. The pit gate will open to competitors at 12.00p.m. and then all those people who have purchased tickets in advance will get the opportunity to enter the stadium at 2.30p.m. This is the perfect opportunity to pick your spot and set up for the night ahead, so if you haven’t got your ticket yet and want to be one of the first through the gate you have till Saturday evening to do so. If you wish to pay on the gate the turnstiles will open at 3p.m.
As mentioned the camping will be on first come, first served basis along with the car park so don’t be late. The first on track activity will be the Heritage parade, with cars from the 1950’s onwards - a delight to watch and hear all about these pieces of racing history and this will take place from 4.45p.m. with Keith Barber informing the crowd of all these fantastic machines. Don’t forget these cars will be on display prior to their parade in a Heritage exhibition celebrating 50 years of World Finals at Coventry and although they will be racing throughout the evening the exhibition will displaying these cars throughout the night giving the public a piece of nostalgia and for no extra cost. Spend some moments reminiscing about these cars from the bygone era before watching another racing champion lift the World Championship trophy for 2010.

The Future’s Bright – The Future’s Orange?
An Orange invasion threatens to upset the status quo in the BriSCA F1 Stock Cars World Championship weekend at MCM Coventry Stadium on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 September.
Not since 1955 when Polish imigree Jerzey Wojtowicz VC lifted high the World Final trophy has anything like a European name appeared on the roll of honour. In fact the nearest the trophy has come to going out of the country was when Scot Jock Lloyd won in 1961 – at the time he lived in Middlesex!
In years gone by the Orange order have not posed as great a threat as they do on this prestigious occasion; with new venues like Emmen in Holland giving more drivers the chance to race on dirt tracks; and greatly improved car preparation by ACON drivers – these Dutch competitors have been honing their skills, in a determined effort to make their presence felt at World 2010 at Coventry.
Not only the Dutch, but also the New Zealand contingent is looking to be taking challenging for the top prize in BriSCA F1 Stock Car racing in the UK very seriously indeed. Kiwi Scott Joblin looks to be an outside bet.
Reigning NZ 240’s Champion, Scott has gone to the trouble (and great expense) of shipping over his own F1 stock car built to BriSCA specifications by no less a car builder than Clive Lintern who emigrated to New Zealand some years ago. Lintern was an innovate stock car design and build ace who championed 1980’s superstar Nigel Whorton – and it is the Whorton family who are giving Scott all the support he needs to be another force to be reckoned with in the 2010 World Championship Final.
Whilst every driver on the 36 car grid will be targetting the highest step on the presentation podium – “As seen on TV in Gears and Tears”, UK rivals and champions of the sport, Andrew Smith and Frankie Wainman Junior will not take these challenges lying down.
Defending Champion Andrew is going for three World Finals in a row, only the third driver to do so if he succeeds – and FWJ who has been National Points Champion on 13 occasions has a few scores to settle as far as winning the F1 World is concerned. He is trailing his rival by 2 to 4 with his name on the solid silver trophy – so maybe those overseas entrants won’t get a look in after all.
The only way to find out who does what to whom, who lifts the trophy, champagne and laurels on the biggest night of the year in the BriSCA F1 stock car calendar is to be there:
Coventry MCM Stadium, Rugby Road, Brandon, Coventry. (turnstiles open 3.00pm)
Advance discount tickets available until midnight on Saturday 21st August.
For full details and to book here on line or contact the Stadium 02476 542395
At the same event Coventry Stadium is celebrating 50 years since staging its first World Final with an historic exhibition, a veteran car rally with cars from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s on display and racing in their own World Final. A unique time for nostalgia, to mingle with the stars of a bygone era, all included in the admission price.
Press Release #3 - 12th August 2010
Another week passes by and plenty more vital information for you regarding this year’s BriSCA FI World Championship weekend.
Camping
We appreciate everyone's patience regarding this matter as we have been working hard to try and arrange camping with local farmers however due to the regular car boot sale taking place on Sunday, farmers are not able to offer overnight camping facilities in the adjacent fields but have agreed to allow parking on Saturday night for which they will levy a charge which we understand is to be £3. per car. This is out of our control and will be entirely at the farmers' discretion.
In light of the huge interest in people wishing to camp we are offering a section of the car park area (on the left hand side as you enter the stadium) which is currently not used for parking as it is soft ground, however during the next few weeks a team will be on hand performing ground works on this area to make it suitable for people wishing to pitch tents. The hard standing car park next to this tent area will be available for people wishing to park motor homes, however we would like to ask everyone to park and pitch in a considerate manner to your fellow neighbours and make use of every bit of ground possible as this is going to be a popular option for those wanting to make a weekend of it.
This area will be on a first come first served basis and judging by the amount of interest we have had already, these pitches will be snapped up quickly so we would highly recommend that you come along on the Friday to make a real weekend of it and soak up the World Final atmosphere.
The car park will be open to happy campers from 3pm from Friday and the most important part.....it's all absolutely FREE.
The stadium will be open on Saturday morning 8a.m. and 11a.m. for people wishing to freshen up and showers will be available (£1 to cover costs) A super value £5 breakfast will also be served during this time and consists of
2 x Bacon
2 x Sausage
Beans or Tomatoes
Chips
Scrambled or Fried Egg
Slice of bread and butter
Tea or Coffee
Before jumping ahead to World Final night, the Friday meeting is looking to be huge with an abundance of FII's already chomping at the bit to book in whilst we have also been delighted with the amount of Dutch entrants interested in bringing both FI's and FII's.
Here is a provisional list of Dutch who have shown a strong interest in coming over and joining in on the fun.

Children 11-15 - £5
So it really can’t be missed.
As mentioned in last week’s press release we have a covers band booked to entertain in the Understand Bar on the Friday evening and on Saturday we are delighted to announce that we will be rocking along to Phoenix who are a 60’s rock and roll band ready to get the party started and celebrate in fine style. All in all with two cracking meetings ahead and two major parties it is going to be a weekend to remember.
A few seats are left in the restaurant, tickets are just £55 which includes entry and a three course meal contact the office direct for more information on 02476 542 395.
Finally......don’t forget that advance ticket sales close on the 21st August. You can either purchase your tickets at a cheaper rate before this date by visiting our official website at www.coventrystox.com or calling the office. Alternatively why not pop along to the stadium on the 21st August and watch the V8’s and Street Bangers in action that night – 7.00p.m. start and buy your ticket at the same time. Those organised people will also have priority entry to the stadium on World Final day as the gates will open to ticket holders at 2.30p.m. whereas the turnstiles will not open before 3p.m. to those who are buying on the day – what more reason do you need to get them booked!
Press Release #2 - 5th August 2010
BriSCA F1 Stock Cars
World Final Update
Friday 3 September
Locally based band Rockbottom will be performing after racing finishes in the Understand Bar and will provide the entertainment for the late night party.
Rockbottom are a covers band and their play list includes just about everything so don't be afraid to talk to them as they will do requests.
They will from time to time ask if anybody wants to get up and have a sing, which is always dangerous territory, however, it will not be Karaoke as no printed words or screens to sing from so you have to be brave to get up and have a go.
After a hard night’s racing and with 34 coaches from Holland in the car park plus many more who will be staying over this party is set to be a steamy affair as the understand holds about 600 once we have taken the furniture out and we are not sure we can get everybody in.
To back up the band we will be selling beer at a discounted price for the whole weekend at £2.50 a pint which is a 35p reduction on normal prices which should help one or two to get brave enough to have a sing along.
We will also have a traditional Beer festival taking place with some interesting brews brewed specially for the WF to tickle your fancy.
No 53 Legless Lundy - 4.3%abv
This is a lighthearted beer with a kick which makes for a great last bender
No 515 Wobbly Wainman - 5.9%abv
A real winner inheriting only the serious side of its forerunner and as such not everybody’s favourite as a seriously heavy beer which is guaranteed to give you the wobbles
No 391 Smashing Smith - 5.7%abv
A charismatic beer with a long heritage of fun & frolics from its forerunners but always holds a little back for when it really matters
No 4 Desperate Dan - 3.4%abv
Needs to be taken a lot more seriously than its heritage would suggest and should be considered a light weight for those that wish to go the distance
No 259 Hallucinating Hines - 4.2%abv
Always seeing double even if it is served in plastic rather than its more traditional glass
No 84 Peeping Tom - 7.2%abv
This is a young upstart hoping to get into the final mix and is sure to push a few out of the way even if it is brewed with apples instead of hops.
Saturday 4 September
The following morning the stadium will open its doors to those that have stayed over in the car park so that they can access the toilets and if they wish they can use the female and male speedway showers for £1 to cover the costs so that they can start to feel human again.
The understand bar area will be ready to serve breakfast from 8am till 11am for those that can’t face cooking early in the morning with a WF special on offer for £5 consisting of:-
2 x Bacon
2 x Sausage
Beans or Tomatoes
Chips
Scrambled or Fried Egg
Slice of bread and butter
Tea or Coffee
We will be doing other great food and drink offers during the World Final weekend and these will be detailed as we get closer to the event so make an occasion of it and let somebody else do the cooking.
If you wish to make a proper weekend of it why not get a hotel booked and taxi it. There are many hotels in the Coventry area but here are a few to get you started.

Press Release #1 - 29th July 2010
The countdown is on, only five weeks to go to the pinnacle event of the season for the BriSCA Formula I’s – the Championship of the World. The Coventry team are delighted to be hosting this event as it is 50 years since Brandon witnessed their first World Final and there is plenty in store for both drivers and race fans.
Every Thursday the Coventry team will be publishing a press release with information regarding this event to whet everyone’s appetite of what’s to come on the biggest night of the season.
Before the major race itself Coventry are working hard on a Friday night bonanza. We are expecting around forty overseas entrants to appear and grab the opportunity with both hands to find the correct set up and experience valuable track time. This event is the final FII meeting of the season at Brandon and what fantastic racing this brigade have given the Coventry crowd this season. We have seen some spectacular drives from the shale supremos. As this is the final appearance of the FTooz there will be the Whites and Yellows race to kick start their evening. We are already aware of several Dutch FI drivers bringing along their FII machines too and as such we will be adding £500 to the prize fund to make sure they are rewarded for their efforts.
After all the action on track is complete we will be focussing on a big party night to get the weekend started in fine style. This is free to enter with live entertainment which will be announced as we get closer to the event.
Onto the all important World Final Saturday -

Details of foreign entrants will be released in the countdown to this event.
The prize fund for this meeting is over £30,000 with an impressive £10,000 on just the World Final race alone.
We are expecting over 100 Formula 1 cars to participate and up to 40 Heritage Cars some of which will be exhibited for the race fans to visit and enjoy reminiscing.
Already ticket sales have outnumbered those sold in previous years and if you wish to purchase a seat then this can be done via the official website www.coventrystox.com or in person at the World Final Ticket Booth opposite the office at the August meeting.
Availability of cheap rooms for the weekend can still be found on www.laterooms.com but prices will increase as we get closer to the event so book early and enjoy the party atmosphere of the weekend.
Weekly press releases full of all the latest World Final information will be available on www.coventrystox.com every Thursday leading up to this major event, so sit back and look forward to what is going to be a fantastic weekend of stox action.
